Prayer and Patience

Right now we are called to prayer and to patience. All of us who are scheduled to go to the Gulf this week are anxious to go but Bob in all his wisdom and common sense feels we should slow down just a little and let them get in and survey the damage and get the bunkhouses set back up before we Wabi-Sabi women come down. So we will be waiting until they get ready for us to come. Ken Stevens another member of God's Helping Hands, will be going down tomorrow to join the team if any one else wants to catch a ride with him. Right now we just need to be ready when the call comes.
I wanted to share with you this prayer request I received from a friend of mine, Cindy Talley. She is a member of Highlands Bristol.

Just wanted to ask for prayers. As most of you know my brother Michael lives in Baton Rouge, LA and is a State Trooper. During the Hurricane today, he was home sleeping, after working non-stop for many days from 6pm to 6am and the storm knocked a tree down and it went through his house!
It landed in the room he was sleeping in! He has cuts on his head (with some pain) and hurt his knee and has cuts all over him from the limbs.
LUCKILY (thank God) it landed far enough away from him that only limbs hit him! Also, there was no power at his house (before this occurred) and his family (thankfully) had left the house to go to his wife's parent's house who had power and no one else was home. (Now, there is no power at their house either). His wife and three kids (Taylor, Morgan and Logan) are fine, but very shook up about their Dad.
There is much damage to his house. The tree went through the bedroom he was in, to another bedroom. It also went through a bathroom and third bedroom. Who knows when, with everything else going on, they will be able to get this taken care of.
He is in good spririts and thankful things happened the way they did and everyone is safe. He is back to work tonight and doesn't know when his next day off will be, due to the storm. He is also on call and was asked to pack a bag to possibly go to New Orleans to assist.
Thanks for your prayers for my brother, his family and of couse, all the other people in the area of the hurricane.
Cindy

It's hard to know how many families from our church will be affected by this storm. so let us be called to action, to pray for the needs of all those affected by the storm also for the team that things will go in their favor in getting back to Lakeshore and getting the relief campus set back up. Also pray for help in volunteers and monatary help to meet the needs of those in Lakeshore and the surrounding area. Pray that Gods will be done in the building of the house. Lead the team to make the right decisions and doors of opportunity be opened. Pray for all the families and other members of the team left home and show ways we can best support the effort to bring glory to God and blessing to our lives in the simple task of serving where needed.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. Psalm 23:1 Let it be so, in Jesus Name

My prayers and concerns go out to the Lakeshore community (and all the communities that have been affected by Gustav)this morning. That Lakeshore has had to endure another storm and has been set back from their rebuilding progress from the Katrina disaster, must hurt them in ways I can only imagine.

"The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." Nahum 1:7 (NIV)
