Refuge

Just talked with Randy with the latest weather info from the National Hurricane Center. The storm is bearing down. I was pleased to find out they have finally stopped working and have found refuge in a home down there. They are getting showers and getting ready to try and rest some before the eye comes in sometime in the morning. They are already experiencing rain but conditions are not too bad yet. Randy says thanks to everyone for their prayers and they are believing that all will be fine.
Everyone is doing good but tired. He said he would call again later on tonight. Praise God for refuge.

Isaiah 25:4
For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall
.

The Storm Approaches

Randy called requesting an updated weather report. I was at the lake so I hurried home to get the latest info. Just called him and gave him the current reports. They are still hard at work. They have the kitchen up now and are preparing to move it. They are now salvaging anything they can that is left before they buckle down to ride out the storm. They are beginning to get the clouds and outer bands and are expecting the rain soon. They are not sure yet where they will ride it out but said they had a couple of options. I told him I hoped that didn't mean tying themselves to the flagpole or something. He assured me they would be safe and not take any unnecessary chances. They are expecting up to 15 inches of rain.

They have had a spring break on one of the trailers and are trying to find parts which is not easy with everyone gone and the stores closed. We serve a big God though and He will provide what they need. We have a crew ready to go down and assist them as soon as the storm passes and they allow people to come in. I'll let you know what items they may need so we can gather them over the next couple of days. With the stores closed and gas being short we will probably need to bring some gas for generators and cooking. We will probably need to bring some food and water. I'm just thinking out loud so I'll wait until I hear for sure what they need.

Right now our job is to pray. Our Father promises in Isaiah 43:2,
'When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Let us take comfort in those words as the storm quickly approaches.

Making Progress and Looking Forward

Just checked in with Randy and they are back at work after a short break for a biscuit. Everyone is holding up well and they are making progress. They are trying to save everything they can before the storm hits. They are moving things to a place further inland. Continue to pray for their strength. They are going adrenelin at this point.
Now as the storm draws ever closer we need to pray that God will turn the storm where the least damage will be done and pray for the safety of those we love and all those in the path of the storm. Now we need to start looking forward to what's next. They will be giving us a list of things they are going to need and we will need to get them together and be prepared to move in to help as soon as we can after the storm. I truly believe God has prepared us for this. God knew when this storm was coming and He is trusting us to pass this test and show Him to others as they see what He has done in our lives. Let us look for the rainbow behind the rain, the opportunity to serve and to help the hurting and the brokenhearted. It is always darkest just before the dawn and His mercies are new every morning.

Work Contiues!!!

Just talked with Randy. They are just getting back to work after a couple of hours sleep. They worked most of the night and got a couple of things moved out last night. the only bunkhouse left is the one they slept in. They are all still doing good and Tony is keeping them entertained and light hearted in spite of the serious situation. They ask for prayer for their strength and ability to work long hours without much rest. also pray for their wisdom and opportunities to find safety as the storm approaches. Please also pray for the wabi-sabi wives who were left home and are concerned. God is in control and He is with them. His grace is sufficient.

They've arrived!!!!!

Just received a call from Randy and they have arrived at Lakeshore and are starting work immediately. They will get as much done as they can and then rest a couple of hours and finish up in the morning and try to get out as soon as they can. Everyone is doing good. Tony's back is still doing good. Just pray that God will bless them with supernatural stamina and strength to work. Pray for their safety as this is a very dangerous storm.

God's Helping Hands Mississippi Bound

Around 6:30 this morning the phone began ringing about the status of the Mississippi. Around 7:30 Bob called and said I think we need to go help with battening down the hatches and try to move the kitchen and bunkhouses out of harms way. So by 8:30 everyone had been reached and were making last minute preparations. By 10:30 they were at the Tennessee Welcome Center ready to pull out. Present were Bob Turner, Randy Camper, Teddy Summit, Hugh Wise and Tony McKenna. They were ready to head down and help in any way they can even if it means getting into the path of the storm.

Received an update around 1:30 pm and they had made it almost to Chattanooga and had stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrell. Hugh and Teddy are riding together, Randy and Tony are together and Bob is in the 18 wheeler with a flatbed. They are making good progress.

Around 7:30 received a call from Randy and they have made it over the Mississippi line. They are going to shut the roads down to inbound traffic in the morning so they are trying to get there before that happens. Will call when they arrive at Lakeshore. They are going to be filling up with gas as gas is more scarce the closer you get to the coast especially on the interstate.

Right now we just need to unite in prayer and the belief that God is with them and that He is in control. There is a purpose in everything. How do we know that God had us prepared to move to save the kitchen and stuff because it is going to be needed to help after the storm is passed. He knows the end from the beginning. Let us just pray that God will use them to touch lives as He puts divine protection around them. I'll update the blog as soon as I hear anything.
